'Castle’ actor Nathan Fillion wants to play Booster Gold
“Castle” star Nathan Fillion said that he would like to play comic book hero Booster Gold. The star revealed this while answering a fan’s question at the Wizard World Chicago Firefly.
“I think I could take a pretty good crack at Booster Gold. That’s kind of my niche: show-offy, vain. I think I could handle that. Not too bright,” he said during a Q&A session at the Wizard World Chicago Firefly. He also said that Booster Gold is one of the greatest American superheroes who should get a reboot.
Meanwhile, there are speculations that the character may soon appear in a movie. Earlier this month, DC's “Legends of Tomorrow” executive producer, Phil Klemmer, hinted at Booster Gold’s appearance in a film. Speaking to The Hollywood Reporter, he said that the character is being “groomed for bigger things.” However, he did not reveal exact details about the character’s introduction on the big screen. The character has previously appeared on the small screen in the series “Justice League Unlimited,” and later in the small-screen animated series “Legion of Super-Heroes” in 2006.
Booster Gold, who is born in 25th century Gotham City, first appeared in comic book “Booster Gold” No. 1. He is Rip Hunter’s father and has an alter ego called Michael Jon Carter. A gifted athlete, he is blessed with superpower abilities such as power blasts, generating force fields and taking a flight. Dan Jurgens created the character.
Previously, Fillion has voiced several superhero characters including those in the film “Justice League: The Flashpoint Paradox.” He also voiced Hal Jordan/Green Lantern in the recently released “Justice League: Throne of Atlantis,” and Fillion has been the voice of several video games’ characters including “Halo 3,” “Halo 3: ODST" and “Halo: Reach and Destiny.” The actor, who is best known for playing Richard Castle in ABC’s “Castle,” is currently doing the voice work for “Henchmen.”
