Castle Season 5: Best Moments So Far - Romance, Milestones, and the Bros' Friendship
Castle Season 5 has delivered only 9 episodes so far, but it seems a lot has happened since the premiere two and a half months ago.
Spoiler alert: This feature contains major spoilers for those who have not seen all Season 5 episodes, so far. Read at your own risk.
Here is a look back to some of the viewers' favorite Season 5 moments:
5. Kate Beckett (Stana Katic) walking softly into Rick Castle (Nathan Fillion)'s bedroom - holding a coffee mug in each hand - wearing nothing but his white long sleeves. She does not feel the need to run in utter embarrassment. She is standing behind her words from last season's finale, "I want you." This particular morning after is nicely done.
4. Alexis (Molly Quinn) is hung-over for the first time. Then she walks in a comic-con with barely any clothing on her skin. This young woman has been having some grown-up "bad girl" moments of her own. (Man, is she hot!) But she's still daddy's little girl. The moment when Rick checks for monsters under her bed is very touching. Watching Alexis grow up (while raising her father) in the series almost makes the procedural crime a (dysfunctional) family affair.
3. "The best handshake ever." As they cannot be seen doing anything romantic at work, Castle has figured out a way to kiss - with a handshake. "This is me pulling you in for a long soft kiss," he tells Beckett. It's all simple, sweet, and very much in-character for Castle. Throughout their little fights (From Episode 1: Castle asks Beckett to hide in his closet to Ep9: Beckett is unwilling to give up her personal Christmas tradition), the two of them always manage to come through. No one is quitting, chickening out or running away. Solid and sweet.
2. Everything about Episode 6: "The Final Frontier." This appears to be Fillion's homage to "Firefly" and "Serenity." It is one of the series' best servings ever. Production-wise, everything about this episode is easy on the eyes.
1. Beckett bitch-slaps Senator William H. Bracken, scarring him with her mother's ring. Some viewers are complaining that Castle has already become a Beckett show. But it is fair to remember that anything about the writer's muse is also about the writer. Beckett practically tells a U.S. senator to not dare hurt Castle, or else. (Awesome scene and brilliant portrayal, Ms Katic!)
Castle will come back with fresh Season 5 episodes in January. (Meantime, enjoy your DVDs.)
