Castle Season 5 Episode 10 will let viewers see what happens when Meredith, Rick Castle's ex-wife and Alexis' mom, comes to visit for the first time since Castle and Kate Beckett got together. It won't be just a visit-for-lunch or dinner - Meredith will stay in Castle's loft, together with Beckett, Alexis, and Martha. Talk about a lot of women. And a lot of awkwardness.

Castle Season 5 Episode 10: 'Significant Others' Synopsis

Here's the official synopsis of Castle's post-holiday season episode:

"When a powerful divorce attorney who only represented women is murdered, Castle and Beckett are confronted with a plethora of angry ex-husbands, any one of whom could be the murderer. Meanwhile, Castle's ex-wife, Meredith (returning guest star, Scandal's Darby Stanchfield), moves into the loft to take care of Alexis while she recovers from Mono, and to make matters worse, Beckett is also forced to move in while her apartment is being fumigated, causing tension, humor and more than a little awkwardness."

Castle Season 5 Teasers: What fans can look forward to

Kate's encounter with Alexis' mom is happening soon enough. But there's a lot more to look forward to in the episodes running after that. In particular, show runner Andrew Marlowe has revealed Castle's father might turn up this season.

Castle's big moment with his dad is "certainly something that we're thinking about seriously and trying to find the right angle in on," Marlowe told TV Line.

Another big development coming up is Kate's next encounter with Senator Bracken. Marlowe told TV Guide Castle's muse will be in a "really interesting moral territory." How does it happen?

"A murder seems to lead to his doorstep and Kate thinks this [is] her opportunity to finally get the man who was responsible for her mother's murder, behind bars," Marlowe said.

Remember when Beckett bitch-slapped the evil senator? The scene leading to that moment is a peek into Beckett's fury. It seems that fans are going to see more of that as a future episode would push Beckett deeper into hate zone.

Castle will return to U.S. television via ABC on Jan. 7.
