Castle Season 5 Spoilers: Details on the premiere episode after a steamy finale
Castle closed Season 4 with Kate Beckett's words "I just want you." How will the crime-dramedy open in the fall?
TV Line's Michael Ausiello shared some juicy spoilers, so this is where you stop reading if you would rather be surprised.
In the last finale, shippers of Rick Castle and Kate Beckett (played by Nathan Fillion and Stana Katic, respectively) got every "first" wish: first kiss, first admission, first leading-to-bed scenes. There is a chance that the series might open in Castle's room, but there are no spoilers that point to that exact detail yet.
Castle Season 5 premiere episode: What to expect?
What Ausiello knows is that the premiere episode of Season 5 will jump right into the never-explored details of the murder of Beckett's mother.
"I hear it'll mostly revolve around Beckett's mom," writes Ausiello.
"Mostly" is as vague as it gets when it comes down to spoilers. But fans can guess that the premiere episode will not be so much about "the morning after" or the romantic (or awkward) moments following the steamy sexual encounter between the central characters.
Season 4 Finale
In the finale, Beckett was overwhelmed. Castle was not there when she needed him. It hit her hard that he turned his back on her for the first time ever. She realized she has been pushing him away, and she has got to do something about it. Now what about the morning after that? How would Beckett's thoughts run knowing that those who killed her mother are still out there?
As fans wait for several more weeks, SpoilerTV shares what the series creator, Andrew Marlowe, thinks about last season's finale.
"There comes a point where you have to confront it. ... We wanted to get the point where we resolved it and made a promise for next season that these two are going to have to be dealing with their feelings for one another," says Marlowe.
Ha. They will confront their feelings, albeit not in the premiere episode. The pair is likely to go through an emotional process that would last an entire season.
Beckett and Castle, for real?
"I think we're really interested to see what's going to happen with these two. What does that relationship look like? This is going to allow us to reembrace some of the fun, because relationships are tricky things and they don't always go the way you want them to," Marlowe adds, hinting that the two will be in a relationship, and what happened in the finale does not end there.
As for the actress playing Castle's muse, Katic told reporters at last month's Critics Choice Awards:
"It'll be fun to see who finds out about them being together - who stays out of the loop and for how long and how they decide to reveal all of that."
