Castle wants to find out who murdered an actor. Esposito (Jon Huertas) and Ryan (Seamus Dever) discourage Castle from coming on board, but Castle's charm still works on them. Even Captain Gates (Penny Johnson Jerald) shows signs she's glad to see Castle back in her precinct.

Castle Season 6, Episode 3: "Need to Know"

Beckett and McCord fly to NYPD to take over a case from Beckett's old team. The FBI partners did not know they'd see Castle -- fresh from a near-death episode -- at the NYPD.

In Castle Season 6, Episode 3, viewers are reminded to "be careful what you wish for." Beckett wants the FBI job, but she's finding the big Feds picture unacceptable. And when she steps in to "honour the victim" (as Rick puts it), she winds up losing her job.

Kate Beckett, for the writers, "has core values that are focused on bringing the bad guy to justice," Stana Katic told TV Guide. "I don't think she can work against that. So, because she is who she is, she has to make sure that the victim is safe and that the bad people get put away."

Cas-kett Fans Say 'Bye' to Lisa Edelstein and Rachel McCord - for now

Castle Season 6, Episode 3 is the last for Lisa Edelstein, at least in the meantime. The former Lisa Cuddy ("House," Fox) signed on for only three episodes.

During filming, Stana Katic has praised Lisa for her contribution to the series. The two have shared mutual admiration throughout filming. On Twitter, Cas-kett fans have expressed a lot of love for Lisa, too.

Is that it for the D.C. chapter in Beckett's life? Viewers ask. Stana makes sure the Cas-kett fans understand D.C. "solidified (Rick's and Kate's) commitment to each other." It even "probably deepened their love for each other."

"(Kate) is going to be a fish out of water because she won't have that purpose after she loses this job. She's not able to go back to the NYPD. And so, she's kind of floating around for a little bit," Stana Katic revealed.

Castle Season 6 returns to ABC on Monday (Oct. 14) for Episode 4: "Number One Fan." In this episode, a murder suspect takes hostages and demands the presence of Rick Castle. If Stana's Beckett is still unemployed by then, how would she feel seeing Castle in the front and centre of an investigation? It looks like the Cas-kett wedding has to wait a bit longer.
