The mid-season finale of “Castle” Season 7 saw Esposito and Lanie ending their on and off relationship after spending a day with Laine’s parents. They realised that they wanted a relationship that is similar to Lanie’s parents and ended their relationship, though Esposito was ready to get engaged after going through a near death experience. David Amann, showrunner of “Castle,” has said that Esposito will be exploring relationship with others. However, he did not say that Lanie and Esposito are not going to be an item again.

Speaking about Laine and Esposito’s relationship, Tamala Jones, who plays Lanie, has told TV Line that it’s still going on. She said that Lanie and Esposito are still messing around but they are not walking down the aisle. TV Line has quoted Jones as saying, “I grabbed his butt at the end of the [break-up] scene, and you don’t do that if it’s over over.”

TV Line has also revealed that Ryan’s sister will be making an appearance in the upcoming episode. It is in episode 18, Ryan sister Gwen will be introduced along with her husband. Ryan’s brother-in-law is a “burly security specialist.” This episode will be a Ryan-centric episode.

Meanwhile, serial killer 3XK and his disciple Dr. Kelly Nieman are returning in the two-parter February episode. A murder investigation seems to connect to the plastic surgeon, according to Amann. Also, Castle’s disappearance mystery will be revisited in this episode. Speaking about the much anticipated episode, Jones said to TV Line that it is a “completely outrageous” episode, never seen before in “Castle.”

“You’re going to cry, you’re going to think someone died…. Your mind and your heart are going to be one,” TV Line has quoted Jones as saying. She also revealed that the first part will end on a cliffhanger and it is going to bug the viewers, as they would want to see the second part, the next day. The concluding episode of this two-parter is “emotionally driven.” Jones said that there is some serious stuff going on.
