Kate Beckett and Rick Castle finally exchanged their vows in episode 6 of "Castle" Season 7. They became husband and wife in a simple, beautiful ceremony and only Martha, Alexis and Beckett's father attended it. In the episode, which is titled "Time of Our Lives," Castle enters an alternate reality and in that reality, only he could remember the last six years of his life with Beckett. It gives him a perspective on how his life would have turned out if he and Beckett had never met. In the alternative reality, Beckett is heading the 12th precinct. She has yet to solve her mother's case and she has become someone who gives up easily. Martha is back on the stage, as Castle's books are not flying off the shelves. Castle and Alexis' relationship is estranged. Ryan is not married to Jenny. Lanie is pregnant but she and Esposito are not on good terms.

After coming out of this alternate reality, Castle proposes to Kate and asks her to marry him, without waiting for another day. He wants to get married "now" and Beckett is all smiles. It is an impromptu wedding ceremony. There are no guests, bridesmaids and also Ryan, Esposito and Lanie are not present. Castle and Beckett exchange their vows and then Castle plays the music on his cell phone and the two dance. Beckett finds the moment perfect.

Beckett says: "The moment that I met you, my life became extraordinary. You taught me to be my best self, to look forward to tomorrow's adventure. When I was vulnerable, you were strong. I love you, Richard Castle and I want to live my life in the warmth of your smile and the strength of your embrace. I promise you I'll love you. I'll be your friend and your partner in crime and in life. Always."

Castle says: "The moment we met, my life became extraordinary. You taught me more about myself than I knew there was to learn. You are the joy in my heart. You're the last person I want to see when I close my eyes. I love you, Katherine Beckett, and the mystery of you is the one I want to spend the rest of my life exploring. I promises to love you and be your friend and your partner in crime and life till death do us part, and for the time of our lives."
