‘Castle’ Season 8 Update: Stana Katic leaving, thanks fans and takes social media break

“Castle” Season 8 airs Episode 19 (“Dead Again”) this Monday, April 25, on ABC. The season finale is drawing near, which is usually when fans wonder whether the show and all the cast members are returning for another chapter. By now, however, avid followers already know that Stana Katic is leaving Castle. She has thanked her fans and taken a social media break after filming Kate Beckett’s final scenes for the eighth season.

Will Kate Beckett die in ‘Castle’ Season 8 finale?

It remains unknown whether Kate Beckett dies in the “Castle” Season 8 finale. The media is abuzz with speculations as to how Katic would exit the series she helped popularise since its pilot episode. Some believe that Katic’s Beckett will die; others believe that the writers had written something more powerful and compelling than that.

“Castle” creator Andrew W. Marlowe, as well as his wife and “Castle” writer Terri Edda Miller left the show after the seventh season finale. The couple both said on Twitter that they were saddened by the news of Katic leaving their show. (Alexi Hawley and Terence Paul Winter, both longtime members of the Castle family, took over as showrunners from the Season 8 premiere.)

For her part, Katic left her fans a short message of gratitude on Twitter and posted a Season 8 picture wrap on Instagram. She has also issued a statement, saying she does not want her departure to “distract from what was an amazing experience.”

She has not used the social media for a week now, but Stana Katic is expected to let fans know more about her or ABC’s decision to end Kate Beckett’s story in “Castle.” Fans could only hope that she doesn’t die in the series.
