Casual Sex App Bang with Friends Sued by Zynga for Infringement
"Bang with friends" is a casual sex app which allows users to connect with people on their friends list in facebook for casual sex. In a three step process the users are asked to get the bang with friends app and choose the friends they are interested in, if the friend is also interested, an email is sent to both parties indicating a positive interest and the rest is up to the users as to when and where to meet.
The app has been getting excellent response online but there is one problem - part of their name "with friends" is a trade mark of Zynga Inc a social media games provider famous for games like - Farm ville and Mafia wars.
Interestingly Zynga has itself been sued for copyright infringement in the past, Psycho Monkey the developers of Mob Wars alleged that the game Mafia wars infringed upon their copyright, apart from the similar sounding name the basic game play and design were said to be similar.
The management in Zynga has had a bad year with the number of online users dropping to 187 million from 306 million mostly due to users migrating to rival games. Many of the senior executives including the CEO have left the company in the past year adding to the woes. The shares of the company have also fallen from the highs of 10 $ per share at the IPO to about 3 $ a share.
With this law suit perhaps the company is sending out a message that they will take on any and all rivals head on.
