Cat Zingano finally gets her dream match. The first woman fighter who won by technical knockout will face of with women's bantamweight champion Ronda Rousey in January possibly as a preliminary fight to the Jon Jones and Daniel Cormier rescheduled match at UFC 182. The selection of Zingano comes after her impressive win over Amanda Nunes Saturday and UFC President Dana White affirmed that she would be the next Rousey challenger.

When asked if the fight between Zingano and Rowdy was official, White said "yes." "She was screaming at me after the fight. She ran over and started screaming, 'Do you see me? Do you see me?' Yes, I see you," added White. "This was the shut up about Gina Carano fight."

The quick resolution to the forthcoming match was expected after White lashed out at other potential challenger Gina Carano and her handlers. White went on record in a profanity-laced tirade that called Carano as "one of the hardest human beings we've dealt with." There are other aspirants in Fallon Fox, Bethe Correia and Cris "Cyborg" Justino, but those women will have to wait in line as Zingano has earned her keep in this one.

White relayed that the injury that sidelined Zingano for seventeen months might have doubters question her ability to topple the undefeated champion, but the Nunes fight just hushed all pundits. He also said that they showcased her with the fight due to the prolonged absence. Rousey has long been interviewed on record as targeting to fight in the Jones-Cormier headliner and the American fighter has no problems with the date. So barring any surprises, it is all but set in stone that Zingano will be the next fighter to attempt to dent Rousey's immaculate record this coming Jan. 3.

"I was really pushing to get through this fight and I just had to get through this one and then I could look at the horizon," Zingano said via MMAjunkie.

And that is what Zingano just did. The early shaky moments showed that she has the mental toughness to survive an adrenaline filled physical onslaught. Zingano has already gone past Meiesha Tate and Amanda Nunes, doping underdog comeback in both fights. With the way Rousey usually dominates the first few minutes of every match she has been featured (with her vaunted armbar), it would be interesting how Zingano negates an early attempt to submit her.

Nevertheless, the upcoming fight between Rousey and Zingano has got the attention of the fans and will surely deliver the goods.
