Australian actress Cate Blanchett won the Best Actress Award in the Golden Globes 2014 for Woody Allen's "Blue Jasmine." Blanchett won as the Best Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama for playing Jeanette "Jasmine" Francis, a rich socialite from Manhattan who becomes poor and homeless.

Her Golden Globes 2014 Best Actress Award will be added to her growing list of awards including two other Golden Globe Awards (for the films "Elizabeth" in 1998 and "I'm Not There" in 2007), two Screen Actors Guild Awards, two British Academy of Film and Television Arts (BAFTA) Awards, an Australian Academy of Cinema Television Television Arts (Aacta) Award and an Academy Award (Oscar's).

Blanchett's portrayal as Jasmine in Allen's film has been earning a lot of praise from critics for her brilliant performance. Her Golden Globe 2014 win also means that she is a strong contender for the Best Actress Award in the 86th Academy Awards or Oscar's on March 2, 2014. She won an Oscar in 2005 for the film "The Aviator." She was recently awarded an Aacta international award in Los Angeles, California for the same role.

Blanchett's "Blue Jasmine" co-star Sally Hawkins was also nominated for the Best Supporting Actress in a Motion Picture - Drama, Musical or Comedy award for playing the role of Ginger in the film. Unfortunately, she didn't' win. She lost out to Jennifer Lawrence, who won for her role in American Hustle as Rosalyn Rosenfeld.

The 71st Golden Globe Awards was held at the Beverly Hilton Hotel in Beverly Hills, California. Comedians (and friends) Tina Fey and Amy Poehler hosted the show which was produced by Dick Clark Productions in association with the Hollywood Foreign Press Association.

After appearing in "Blue Jasmine," Cate Blanchett will be seen in several upcoming films including "The Monuments Men," with Matt Damon and George Clooney, "The Hobbit: There and Back Again," with Orlando Bloom and Ian McKellen and "Cinderella" with Helena Bonham Carter, Stellan Skarsgård and Lily James.
