It is official; Matthew Perry will star on CBS's reboot of "The Odd Couple" and will put Oscar Madison back to life. The "Friends" alum is also an executive producer of the CBS Television Studios project which is based on Neil Simon's story of mismatched roommates.

The famous "Odd Couple" has enjoyed success over the years with Walter Matthau and Jack Lemmon in film and Jack Klugman and Tony Randall on Television. Now the tale of the messy Oscar and pernickety Felix is going to take new heights as Matthew Perry and Joe Keenan will take the roles.

The new series also marks Perry's reunion with the network where the "Go On" star had a recurring role on the drama "The Good Wife." The new series is also the return of Perry to multicamera comedy unlike his previous project with "Mr. Sunshine" which is using a single-camera vehicle.

"Ever since seeing the movie The Odd Couple when I was 10 years old, it has been a dream for me to play Oscar Madison," says Perry on his pitch to CBS in December. "To be given the opportunity to develop a modern version of it for CBS has put a permanent smile across my face.... Plus, I think it's time for me to be in front of a live audience again. I miss that. The search for Felix Ungar is on!"

Aside from "Odd Couple," CBS is also piloting David Caspe's "Cuz-Bros," Matt Miller's "Good Session" and family comedies "The McCarthys" and "The Mistake." Other new CBS shows include "Save the Date," "How I Met Your Mother" spinoff, "Taxi 22" and "More Time With Family."

The news about the new take on the classic "Odd Couple" is not new to Hollywood but "Sons of Anarchy" creator Kurt Sutter reacted on the news like biker on his highly-acclaimed series.

"jesus christ, we've just completely f*cking given up on originality. these writers should be b*tchslapped," Sutter wrote in his Twitter account in response to the new about "The Odd Couple" reboot.
