Celebrities Tweet Concern for Victims of Hurricane Sandy
Hurricane Sandy is causing widespread disruptions in the East Coast, including the film and television industry in the region. Many productions are being halted and some shows are cancelled due to the superstorm.
British actress Emma Watson tweeted a funny post saying, "I take it that the irony of a massive storm holding up the production of Noah is not lost", she wrote.
The Noah production team, headed by director Darren Aronofsky, has built a large boat in the water at Oyster Bay, NY, directly in the path of the storm.
The television industry in New York has also been affected by the hurricane, with shows such as Gossip Girl halting filming and many late-night talk shows cancelling their Monday tapings.
Comedy Central shut down production of its Daily Show with Jon Stewart and Colbert Report programs. The David Letterman and Jimmy Kimmel shows sent their audiences home for their safety.
Letterman filmed his program with guest Denzel Washington in an empty theatre, while Jimmy Fallon and his crew followed through on their promise to tape a show regardless of the weather.
"We sent our audience home just to be safe. But we are doing our show tonight anyway. Should be fun. #LateNight", tweeted Fallon, along with a photo of an empty theatre.
With many celebrities finding themselves directly affected by the chaos, some of them used Twitter to express their concern to the victims of the weather disturbance.
Pop sensation Justin Bieber tweeted, "Everyone dealing with the hurricane up north be safe."
"All my friends from NYC are sending me pics of this storm. Praying for everyone on the East Coast! I hope everyone is safe!" posted by reality star Kim Kardashian.
Korean pop star Psy was due to visit Canada but his flight is disrupted by the storm. "Planes to Toronto are canceled. Waiting for next availabilities. Please be safe everybody in the east coast!!!" he tweeted.
Controversial actress Lindsay Lohan tweeted, "Stop projecting negativity! Think positive and pray for peace."
