Entertainment personalities from different media have joined to encourage everyone to give something significant this holiday season.

Notable celebrities who are urging their followers to donate to the holiday campaign of the American Red Cross include Nick Cannon, Ted Danson, Jackie Chan, Leeza Gibsons, Nancy O'Dell, Amy Grant, Wynonna Judd, Darius Rucker and Maroon 5, amongst many more.

The campaign features a 2011 Holiday Catalogue made available online that allows a tax-deductible donation to aid people in need. Examples would be to provide shelter and food for disaster victims, even just for a day, or a music or phone card for a wounded soldier.

Many celebrities are tapping their digital media platforms to reach out to their fans and spread the call for charity and hope this holiday season. According to one survey, two-thirds of Americans believe that due to the economy it is more necessary than ever to give something to charity.

If only every celebrity would have a heart as big those who have participated in this campaign, then surely everyone can start singing together - 'Have yourself a merry little Christmas..'
