‘The Celebrity Apprentice': Amal Clooney ‘considering’ offer to replace Donald Trump as host
Donald Trump’s departure from the show last month has left NBC searching for his replacement as host for “The Celebrity Apprentice.” According to insiders, the TV company is looking at George Clooney’s wife, Amal, to replace the presidential candidate.
A source told OK! Magazine that Amal is “considering” NBC’s offer for her to host “The Celebrity Apprentice.” The network’s executives have reportedly looked at her high credentials being a Human Rights lawyer and activist, and decided she’s suited for the job.
The 37-year old has been in New York City as of late as she assumes the visiting professor post at Columbia Law School. However, it’s speculated she’s also in the studio’s home city to finalise NBC’s offer for her to host “The Celebrity Apprentice.”
The Daily Express claims NBC wants Amal as Trump’s replacement since she not only commands attention in the boardroom but also on the red carpet. The British lawyer is married to George Clooney, a celebrity who’s considered to be one of the best actors in Hollywood.
In a statement, NBC described Amal as “a highly respected figure in her field,” who has an aura of mystery about her since she rarely says anything in public.
“Basically we want Amal, although there are a couple of other prominent women in contention. We think she could be a perfect fit, if her schedule can be made to dovetail with shooting requirements,” one of NBC’s execs said in the exclusive report from The Daily Express .
Friends of Amal are reportedly in favour of her replacing Trump as host for “The Celebrity Apprentice.” It’s believed nightclub tycoon Rande Gerber and his supermodel wife Cindy Crawford have expressed their full support and told the attorney to just “go for it.” Amal reportedly tops the other female candidates NBC had shortlisted, which include actress Jessica Alba and Facebook CEO Sheryl Sandberg.
The search for the new host for “The Celebrity Apprentice” came after Trump was fired for his racist comments about Mexicans. The mogul was cut-off from the show after he called the illegal Mexicans immigrants as “murderers and rapists” during one of his presidential campaign speeches last month.
