Celebrity Chef Jamie Oliver Helps Aussies Fight Obesity in Victoria
Jamie Oliver brings the good news of food and health as he introduces the Ministry of Food Victoria with the help of the government. This 2012, the very first centre will open up in Geelong.
The chef himself said that he has been in Australia for more than a decade but the obesity statistics surprised him. He realized that he only saw the beautiful parts of the land of Down Under but never really taken the time to check on the healthy issues of the Aussies.
This world class program will target a total of 14 communities which include those who have the most number of overweight and unhealthy people. A wide range of eating and fitness programs will be offered. There will also be lessons on shopping, cooking or be a part of walking groups and the likes.
As part of the government's initiative, there will be a mobile kitchen that will travel around these communities.
Due to the high profile established by James Oliver, the government was more than willing to work and partner up with him. And the celebrity chef is eager to help in sharing the message of eating healthy with proper diet and living a healthy lifestyle.
A Good Man in James Oliver
Chef Oliver has his own charity called 'The Good Foundation,' which will give equal contribution same as that of the government that will reach up to $2.5 million just to be able to set everything up.
The plan of the entire project is to render courses on healthy eating to an initial target of 10,000 people every year. There are more celebrity chefs that are all set and under negotiations to join in the project.
With James Oliver's love for Australia, he believes that more food ministries will be made in Oz than in any other country in the world.
