Celebrity Death Hoax: Angelina Jolie is not Dead, But Alive and Helping Refugees in Damascus (VIDEOS & PHOTOS)
Another celebrity fell victim to Internet death claims - and this time the rumour had some credence because A-lister actress Angelina Jolie recently underwent double mastectomy, making some fans believe she succumbed possibly due to complications related to her surgery.
However, zeibiz.com clarified that the death report is a hoax. Angeline is alive and heavily involved in humanitarian work, primarily helping child refuges in Damascus.
The Inquistor said the death hoax is a rogue app in an attempt to trick Facebook users into allowing it to access their accounts.
Two months ago, it was Jolie's aunt, Debbie Martin, who died of breast cancer, the ailment that Angelina avoided, leading to her surgery.
The hoax was given credence by the creation on Thursday of a Facebook page titled R.I.P. Angelina Jolie which allegedly had more than one million likes and attracted messages of condolence for the 38-year-old actress.
The alleged obituary for Angelina reads: "At about 11 a.m. ET on Thursday (August 22, 2013) our beloved actress Angeline Jolie passed away. Angelina Jolie (daughter of Jon Voight) was born on June 4, 1975 in Los Angeles. She will be missed but not forgotten. Please show your sympathy and condolences by commenting on and liking."
However, a search yielded three R.I.P. Angelina Jolie pages, but none had 1 million likes of messages of condolence. The three had less than 100 likes. One had a link to another Web site, en.necropedia.org, which also debunked the rumour that Angelina is dead.
In her movies, such as this one, Angelina had died.
Here is the latest video on Angelina visiting Syrian refugees in Jordan as proof that she is alive.
