According to the American Heart Association (AHA), it is difficult to quit smoking. It states that nicotine addiction is hard to come out because it elevates the mood and the heart rate. The carving for cigarette increases once the body gets used to it. The surgeon general's study on nicotine concluded that "behavioral characteristics that determine tobacco addiction are similar to those that determine addiction to drugs such as heroin and cocaine".
The AHA also stated that most people take cigarettes when they are stressed, so it would be hard to handle stress when they quit, hence they go back to the habit time and again to handle their emotions. Keeping this in mind it would be best to know the ways in which these celebrities kicked the habit of smoking.
Cameron Diaz used to smoke 20 cigarettes a day but is extremely health conscious now and has said goodbye to her old habit. She said that her conscience and the feeling of guilt compelled her to quit. Jennifer Aniston took the yoga route to say farewell to her habit.
