The Boston Celtics have the chance to form one of the most dynamic backcourt tandems in the league with New Orleans Pelicans shooting guard Eric Gordon now available on the trading block.

In an attempt to add some beef to their lineup, the Pelicans have reportedly placed Gordon on the trading block and the front office management has already called some teams to hammer the deal as soon as possible.

"A little more than two years after acquiring him, and 18 months after matching a four-year, $58 million offer sheet from Phoenix, the Pelicans remain active in their pursuit of trading guard Eric Gordon, league sources told Sporting News this week,"

"New Orleans has made contact with several teams about Gordon, even devising three-team scenarios in order to find him a new home," the site added.

With Tyreke Evans and Jrue Holiday already flourishing in their roles in the backcourt, the Pelicans found the former Indiana Hoosiers standout dispensable. According to Adam Fromal of Bleacher Report, the Pelicans could move the explosive scorer in exchange for a big man, expiring contracts and even draft picks. In fact, there are seven teams that could make a run at Gordon, though the Celtics' speculated trade offer might look intriguing.

Gordon To Boston Celtics In Exchange for Kris Humphries and Brandon Bass

In a lineup loaded with great scorers in the backcourt but lacking beef in their frontline, the Pelicans could certainly explore a deal such as this.

Humphries may have been inconsistent this season, but he's a proven double-double guy if given solid playing time. Moreover, his expiring contract would help the Pelicans free up $12 million, allowing the ball club to make a run at available free agent big man this summer.

On the other hand, Bass will give the Pelicans more toughness in the middle. Anthony Davis is becoming one of the most dominant young big man in the league, but the presence of Bass will further solidify the team's frontline defence.

Meanwhile, Celtics fans should be excited of a possible Rondo-Gordon tandem. If Rondo proves he's the same terrific passer he used to be, then having Gordon alongside with him will make the Celtics dangerous over the next few seasons.
