Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho believes it's still too early to panic, believing his team has plenty of time to grow in this year's UEFA Champions League campaign.

Mourinho sat out with the media in the eve of Chelsea's UEFA Champions League clash with Schalke on Tuesday. The renowned football coach said he wants his guys to play without pressure despite losing to Basel at Stamford Bridge in the opener.

"I don't think it's yet the time to have the calculator and to be counting the number of points you need to qualify, to be first or second or go to Europa League," he stressed via ESPN FC.

Mourinho, who rejoined Chelsea this summer after his stint with Real Madrid, believes the time hasn't come for the Blues to worry about qualifying into the next round of Champions League, adding it would take the fifth game and beyond to think about the points needed to move on from the group stages.

"I think that comes on the fifth fixture. The third and fourth are fixtures, you can play just thinking about the game, trying to win and if not trying to get a point, but basically, to play without that pressure of the calculator. We lost the first at home, but won the second away so found a balance."

When asked if he is planning to bench David Luis after committing a costly error in Saturday's game against Cardiff, Mourinho said he's likely start either Gary Cahill or Luis for Tuesday's Champions League showdown.

"I have to make an option for tomorrow -- I have to make a choice between David [Luiz] and Gary [Cahill]," he stated. "The players don't know yet as we have only had two days between matches and we haven't trained tactically, so when they don't know I would not like to say.

Chelsea and Schalke will face each other at 2:45 a.m (Perth Time) on Tuesday in Germany.
