The blunt main man of Chanel apologized to Adele after making a crude statement calling the British singer "fat." Karl Lagerfeld made headlines and created a stir when he criticized famous singer Adele for her body weight.

Lagerfeld, who is famous for making nasty comments about women on the curvier side then retracting it afterwards, has done it again. After negative feedbacks on his latest comment towards the talented singer, the designer said that his words were taken "out of context."

"I'd like to say to Adele that I am your biggest admirer. Sometimes when you take a sentence out of the article it changes the meaning of the thought. Adele is my favorite singer and I am a great admirer of her," the renowned fashion guru told Metro New York newspaper.

The 78-year-old also said that he admired Adele for being strong in facing negative comments about her weight. He insisted that the British singer is a beautiful girl, adding that he can't wait until her next CD is released.

In her defense against Lagerfeld's comment, Adele said that it was never her goal to look like the women the designer has on his catwalk. She also added that she was never conscious of her figure nor is she trying to lose weight.

"I've never wanted to look like models on the cover of magazines. I represent the majority of women and I'm very proud of that," the 23-year-old "Rolling in the Deep" singer told People magazine.

"It's just never been an issue - at least, I've never hung out with the sort of horrible people who make it an issue," the singer said. "I have insecurities of course, but I don't hang out with anyone who points them out to me."

Last year the singer had to cancel some of her US and Europe concerts due to a throat surgery. She will be making her comeback to the music industry at the Grammy Awards where she is also nominated for several categories.
