Channing Tatum is People magazine's "Sexiest Man Alive." His wife, Jenna Dewan-Tatum, told People via Twitter, "I agree!"

Tatum, who showcased his abs and sexy dancing skills in the film "Magic Mike," is now the sexiest man alive, beating Chris Hemsworth and Ryan Gosling (and the rest of the hottest male celebrities).

Jenna tweets:

"Well obviously I agree! Good job @peoplemag! Congrats to my humble,loving,talented and yes- SEXY- love @channingtatum!!"

The announcement from People magazine came as a follow-up recognition of the actor-dancer's place in Hollywood. Earlier, GQ magazine has chosen Tatum to cover the glossy mag for its "Men of the Year" Dec 2012 issue.

"(I)t's time to give Channing Tatum his due. Meet America's newest bona fide movie star," Devin Friedman of GQ wrote in the cover story.

In an interview with People, Channing said his initial reaction to grabbing the title was that of disbelief.

"My first thought was, 'Y'all are messing with me,'" he said.

Tatum also said he broke the news to his wife after they'd been in the bathtub. (Wait, it's not what you think.)

"I told Jenna after we'd been in the bathtub washing our dogs because they'd gotten skunked." (See.)

And Jenna's initial reaction?

"She was like, 'What?'" said the sexiest man alive.

Actor Jonah Hill joined in the cheers, showing a photo of Tatum on the cover of People. Hill shows a gross-but-funny licking image as a gesture of approval of Channing's new title. (Start the accompanying slideshow to see the photos.)

Channing Tatum as Sexiest Man Alive as Fifty Shades' Christian Grey?

Tatum's name has earlier been included in website polls for readers of the popular erotic series, "Fifty Shades of Grey." The poll asks: Which actor should play the role of Christian Grey?

Tatum is among the popular choices, along with White Collar's Matt Bomer (also a Magic Mike co-star) and Vampire Diaries' Ian Somerhalder.

Tatum has reportedly said he would only play Grey if his wife would play Anastasia Steele.

Grey and Steele are the central characters in the erotic trilogy.
