Jean-Claude Van Damme has got nothing on Channing Tatum, or at least the younger actor thought so. On the set of his new film “22 Jump Street,” Tatum, as his character Jenko, tried to do Van Damme’s epic split in the new Volvo trucks ad using food carts, and things didn’t go quite well.

The Belgian martial artist had everyone in awe with his new Volvo commercial ad when it appeared online earlier in November. In the jaw-dropping clip, Van Damme performed his famous split while standing on the side mirrors of two reversing trucks.

The video was so impressive that it has amassed over 39 million views in just one week.

Tatum wanted the same fame as well. In character as Jenko, he attempts to split while standing on top of two food trolleys being pushed by two assistants.

“I’ve had my ups and downs,” he said in a voice over. “Being an undercover cop, that’s what made me what I am today. Surviving high school is no easy task. Neither is being a college freshman at my age. Because of this my body is now engineered to defy the laws of physics and a mindset to master the most epic of splits.”

Unfortunately, his legs weren’t quite as talented as Van Damme’s. Just as he is about to widen his stance, the video cuts to him curled up on the floor, holding his crotch in pain.

“Jenko’s Epic Split” has over 1.4 million views a day after it was uploaded on YouTube.

“me and Jonah Hill will do a shot of Jack for every million views this video gets by the last day of production. Dec. 15. Bomb,” Tatum wrote on his Facebook page, referring to his co-star.

“22 Jump Street” is the sequel to the 2012 film “21 Jump Street,” and which is scheduled for release in June 2014.
