From being just a mere restaurant dishwasher, Charles Ramsey is now regarded around the world as the uncanny hero responsible for the escape of decade-long kidnapped victim Amanda Berry and her two companions.

Saying he did what just one conscientious person would do, Mr Berry was relieved he was able to help, never mind if he was also disgusted with himself because he didn't knew that he had been actually conversing with suspected kidnapper Ariel Castro for so long and yet he didn't notice anything unusual with the latter's behaviour.

Never mind if he thought it would look silly that "a little, pretty white girl would ran into a black man's arms."

And yet, Mr Ramsey clearly defined he is not a hero, just a regular guy doing what should be a regular good deed to anyone in distress and need.

Mr Ramsey might be global phenomenon right now but he is just one among a long list of black heroes, real or otherwise imagined.
