Charlotte Dawson Advises Girls Not To Pursue Modelling, To Leave ‘Australia’s Next Top Model’
“Australia’s Next Top Model” judge Charlotte Dawson doesn’t think it’s right for young girls to model. Also, she has quit the show.
The 47-year-old Kiwi-Australian former model shocked fans on Wednesday when she wrote on her Twitter that not only has she quit the show, but she also thinks that young girls shouldn’t even pursue a modelling career.
I will not be part of ANTM again but it has been the greatest show/experience I've had in my broadcasting career. #grateful

I truly adored my time on ANTM but my heart tells me I don't think young girls should pursue the Modelling world. — Charlotte Dawson (@MsCharlotteD) January 15, 2014
Fans were both surprised and baffled by her announcement since she has been with the show since cycle three in 2007. She also started her career as a model at 16, the same age many contestants of the show were in.
When one follower asked her why she suddenly didn’t want to be a part of the show anymore after all these years, she replied:
@JudyJaz it's a brutal game. I'm out.

But some followers were not buying her explanation. After all, she had been judging girls based on their appearance and modelling skills for six years so it’s a little hard to simply accept that she just doesn’t want to be a part of it anymore.
Bring it! Hypocrisy since I was a 16 year old that began my career but I can no longer be a part of this machine. — Charlotte Dawson (@MsCharlotteD) January 15, 2014
She wanted viewers to know that “Australia’s Next Top Model” didn’t do anything wrong with the contestants. She simply just wanted out of it.
I want to make it clear ANTM exercise the greatest duty of care with all contestants. I've merely had a change of heart. New beginnings!

In November, Dawson has hinted that she was planning to leave television in the future.
“I’m tired of the anxiety that comes with working in media, especially as a woman because you’re scrutinised daily and abused about the way you look,” she had told the Herald Sun.
The ninth cycle of ANTM is set to air sometime in 2014, with Jennifer Hawkins returning as the host and head judge.
