After an intense game between Aston Villa and Chelsea, Jose Mourinho attacked Paul Lambert's managerial skills for sticking with long-balls and his maturity therefor.

An Antonio Luna own goal at the sixth minute mark put the Blues ahead, which was cancelled out by astonishing striker Christian Benteke before the break. The goal-winning effort came from Branislav Ivanoc's superb header at the 73rd minute.

However, the "other" highlight of the night came after game with Mourinho displaying his usual self of talking about his opposition without worry.

"Paul has a certain type of personality and behaviour on the pitch." Mourinho told The Daily Mail.

"He reminds me of myself ten years ago when I was complaining about every decision when I want to coach my team and at the same time I want to have a whistle on my lip. He is the same."

At the same time, he deduced that Lambert's youth as a manager will only do him good moving forward.

"He will change. With time and experience he will change because he complains about every, every, every decision," he said.

"But he is a young manager. Very intelligent. He adapts his style to the quality of his players."

In spite of the on-field spat during the game with Mourinho, Lambert, when prompted for a reaction on Mourinho's statements, regarding the comparison made, had only good things to say.

"He's a brilliant football manager. He's done it in every country he's been in. It's probably a massive compliment. Is he ten years older than me is he?" said Lambert.

"Is he six? Bloody hell. Jose doesn't stand there like a shrinking violet. If in six years time I'd be like him, I'd be happy."

Meanwhile, the pursuit of Manchester United striker Wayne Rooney will be temporarily suspended, according to Mourinho, as they prepare to visit Old Trafford on Sept 2.

"I don't want Chelsea to do it before we go there and everyone on the board agrees with me. There is time to do things," Mourinho confided.
