Chelsea Clinton, daughter of former U.S. President Bill and Ex-secretary Hillary Clinton, has revealed in an interview published over the weekend that she doesn't care about the money why she had let go of her lucrative jobs in exchange of doing family's philanthropic activities.

"I was curious if I could care about [money] on some fundamental level, and I couldn't. That wasn't the metric of success I wanted in my life," Chelsea said in an interview with The Telegraph.

Chelsea admitted her frustration of growing up and following the footsteps of her parents. She said she had tried really hard about things that were very different from her parents and that it wasn't the metric of success she wanted for her life.

But the funny thing she realized was that she was called for the philanthropic work both as a daughter and as someone who believed that she has contributions to make.

The former first daughter defended her decision of giving up the lucrative jobs she had by joining her family's philanthropic organization in the Clinton Foundation. The foundation created by Former Pres. Clinton in 1997 focuses on philanthropy on a plethora of causes such as global warming, healthcare and food for the destitute African people, infant and toddler health and sustainable small enterprises.

Since Chelsea got on-board the foundation in 2011, she applied the data-driven skills she acquired from other jobs. As the most hands-on among the three Clintons, Chelsea pushed for the Clinton Health Access Initiative. The initiative aimed at reducing the costs of medicines for HIV and AIDS, including Zinc/ORS, which was a leading treatment for diarrhea. The initiative targets the countries of Kenya, Nigeria and Uganda.

Meanwhile, Chelsea's self-proclaimed non-interest in money generation during the interview came after reports surfaced that she was paid $600,000 in 2013 as an NBC News "Special Correspondent."

The 34-year old Clinton daughter rationalizes that she was just millennially experimenting for that career until she figured out her professional purpose.

But Daily Mail cited Chelsea's paycheck from the NBC Contract is quite high for the frequency of her segments, even higher than the salary of the last two editors of the New York Times.

From the NBC paycheck, Chelsea and her husband Marc Mezvinsky were reportedly able to purchase last spring an apartment next to New York's Madison Square Park to the amount of $10.5 million.

The same Web site also cited the high-profile wedding that Chelsea and Marc had in 2010 cost over $3 million. Chelsea's wedding dress alone which was custom-made from Vera Wang already amounted to around $25,000. The grand wedding attended by 500 guests was held at the sprawling former home of millionaire businessman John Jacob Astor IV, which overlooked the Hudson River in Rhinebeck, New York.

In an interview, Chelsea also addressed the perception that employers do not seek her talent but her pedigree and presidential privilege.

"I will just always work harder [than anybody else] and hopefully perform better. And hopefully, over time, I pre-empt and erase whatever expectations people have of me not having a good work ethic, or not being smart, or not being motivated," she said.

But the presidential daughter also has a potential for a political career ahead.

"I live in a city and a state and a country where I support my elected representatives. If at some point that weren't the case, maybe then I'd have to ask and answer the question for myself, and come to a different answer," Chelsea noted.
