FC Barcelona have reportedly made an initial contact with Chelsea's hierarchy concerning a summer move involving Blues goalkeeper Thibaut Courtois.

Football Direct News claims that the parties will be holding discussions on Monday to get the deal underway.

The Belgian international has helped Atletico Madrid clinch the La Liga title this season, while still having the chance of winning another major silverware with the Rojiblancos on Saturday in the Champions League finals against bitter rivals Real Madrid.

He made a total of 37 appearances in Spain's top-flight and 11 in the Champions League, conceding only 32 goals in both competitions.

The 22-year-old is suggested to provide Barca's recent signing - Borussia Monchengladbach's Marc Andre Ter-Stegen - a much needed competition between the sticks.

Should negotiations fail to materialise, Courtois will be expected to extend his stay at the Vicente Calderon as Petr Cech remains to still be Jose Mourinho's number-one choice.
