Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho is rekindling his interest in signing Real Madrid Midfielder Sami Khedira, according to Mundo Deportivo.

The Portuguese mentor has been heavily linked with the German international, who is recuperating from a torn knee ligament, last summer, and will look to chase the latter's signature once his condition gets better.

The 26-year-old was a key member of the Los Blancos under the reign of Mourinho. However, he is suggested to be included in Carlo Ancelloti's plans as Real move forward.

Things will get all the more difficult for Chelsea as rival club Manchester United, who have reportedly made a £34million bid last summer, are also lurking on Khedira's availability.

Considering the circumstances, the former Stuttgart man's future will be determined on whether he and his current club will be able to agree on an extension as he will be entering his final year at the Bernabeu after this season.
