Serie A club SSC Napoli are reportedly interested in selling its star striker Gonzalo Higuain to Chelsea for £48million.

The Argentine has worked under Blues boss Jose Mourinho during their days at Real Madrid and may have a chance to reunite with each other, should the rumours prove true.

The Italian outfit are keen to make an instant profit from the 26-year-old, whom they signed from Real for £34.5m in the 2013 summer transfer window.

While Chelsea are looking for an abled attacker to reinforce their misfiring strikers in Fernando Torres, Samuel Eto'o, and Demba Ba, who could shamefully account for only 5 goals among themselves in the Premier League, a transfer involving Higuain is far from reality at this point.

Higuain has played for Napoli in the Champions League this season and is therefore barred from suiting up for the Blues, which has just qualified from the group stages.

Acquiring the goalscoring forward is impractical as the Chelsea have found ways to fill up the scoresheets, with a decent tally of 33 goals in the Premier League, while rotation and chemistry issues are natural consequences of purchases made in January.
