Comedienne Chelsea Handler may soon have her own show on NBC.

With her rise to television prominence after her successful hosting job at the 2010 MTV VMAs, Chelsea Handler is fast becoming one of the most sought after talents. Reports are coming in that her comedy series Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea is being picked up by the NBC.

The new show will be based on Chealsea Handler's memoirs. Incidentally, one of these memoirs is also called Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, an obvious rip-off from the popular Judy Blume book Are You There God? It's Me Margaret.

Handler won't star in the series but she will work behind the camera for the show, as an executive producer. The new series will follow a woman in her twenties, with its plots based on Chelsea Handler's books My Horizontal Life: A Collection of One-Night Stands, Are You There Vodka? It's Me, Chelsea, and Chelsea Chelsea Bang Bang.

"The show will be mined from my books and allow me the creative control to put a younger actress in the situations I found myself in at 26, while I sit back, laugh, and not get arrested," Handler told Entertainment Weekly.

Chelsea currently has her own late night talk show in E! Cable Television Network, Chelsea Lately.
