Chelsea transfer news: Diego Costa draws interests from Man United, Blues target Athletic Bilbao star Oscar de Marcos
Chelsea fan-favourite Diego Costa is rumoured to have drawn interests from Premier League rival Manchester United, according to the latest transfer rumours.
Spanish media outlet Fichajes reported that United are ready to battle Atletico Madrid for the signature of Costa. Atletico are keen to signing back the 27-year-old Spaniard after selling him to the Blues in 2014. But the Red Devils are ready to battle Chelsea for Costa’s signature this summer thru a £47 million deal.
According to the Express, United could lure Costa away from Stamford Bridge this summer with Mourinho expected to replace Louis Van Gaal at Old Trafford this this summer. Mourinho has known Costa very well during his stint with Chelsea and that could be a factor into tempting the Spanish international to play for the Premier League giants.
Costa has scored 15 goals in all matches this season for the Mattress-makers. He has endured miserable season under Jose Mourinho, but has regained his form with interim boss Guus Hiddink.
Meanwhile, Chelsea are reportedly targeting Atletico Bilbao star Oscar de Marcos as an ideal replacement for Ramires, according to Alan Nixon of The Sun. Nixon noted that the Spanish midfielder, who is rated as a £20 million footballer, was watched by Chelsea scouts in the Europa League last week.
“De Marcos’ high-energy game is seen as ideal for English football and he knows this summer may be his last chance to secure a lucrative move to the Premier League,” Nixon wrote. “Now De Marcos’ impressive form in La Liga has caught Chelsea’s eye as they start planning for a huge squad overhaul.”
However, according to SB Nation’s Stephen Schmidt, while getting a potential replacement for Ramires seems good news for Chelsea, the 26-year-old Spanish could be a “difficult target” to acquire due to the La Liga side’s recruitment policy.
“Due to the fact that de Marcos currently plays for Bilbao, he could be a difficult target to pry away,” Schmidt noted. “The Basque side's recruitment policy makes them very reluctant to sell their better players, and more often than not, those moves require paying the player's full buyout clause.”
