Shah Rukh Khan's "Chennai Express" is breaking all the box office records, both for the Indian and overseas markets. The movie has collected more than 100 crore (INR) in its opening weekend. There is, however, a big question mark on whether it was able to surpass Salman Khan's "Ek Tha Tiger's" first day opening record or not.

Trade analyst Taran Adarsh tweeted on Monday that "Chennai Express" has collected a stupendous, History creating 100 plus crore (INR) in its opening weekend. The movie collected a recording breaking 32.05 crore (INR) on Sunday.

He Tweeted:

"#ChennaiExpress Thu previews 6.75 cr, Fri 33.12 cr, Sat 28.05 cr, Sun 32.50 cr. Total: 100.42 cr nett. MONSTROUS Weekend... India biz only."

On Saturday, Taran Adarsh had tweeted that "Chennai Express" collected approximately 33.12 crore (INR) on Friday, while Amul Mohan of Super Cinema tweeted that the movie collected 29.50 crore (INR) on its opening day, August 09.

According to Taran Adarsh, "Chennai Express" beat "Ek Tha Tiger" record, which had collected nearly 30.50 crore (INR) on its first day. Amul Mohan tweeted that "Chennai Express"first day collection is the second biggest opening day for any Bollywood movie.

Also, Box Office India Web site reports that "Chennai Express" failed to beat Salman Khan's "Ek Tha Tiger" opening day record. According to the site, "Chennai Express" collected 29.32 crore (INR) on Friday, while "Ek Tha Tiger" had made a business of 30.52 crore (INR).

"Most of the first day first show audience went and the watched the film during the paid preview otherwise the total collection of "Chennai Express" would've gone up to Rs 35 crore (INR)," according to a source quoted in a Times of India report.

"Chennai Express" earned approximately 6 crore (INR) from its Thursday preview shows. The movie, however, is shattering all other records.

The movie, released in 3500 theatres in Indian and around 700 overseas, is all set to become Shah Rukh Khan's biggest hit of his Bollywood career. Koimoi.com reports that "Chennai Express" is the highest opening day collection for the highly popular actor. "Though "Don 2," "Ra.One" and even "Jab Tak Hai Jaan" began well, "Chennai Express" assured that King Khan claims back his position of the highest opener ever."
