Cher Is Facing Racial Discrimination Allegations Ahead Of Her 'Dressed To Kill' Tours
Cher is in trouble ahead of her upcoming 'Dressed to Kill' tour starting from Toronto and finishing in New York.
She is being sued by her choreographer for damages worth $10 million due to her recent racial comments. As per TMZ, the 68-year-old singer and actress of great acclaim told her choreographer that there were too many black people on stage during her concerts.
According to the lawsuit filed by her choreographer Kevin Wilson and reported by TMZ, while auditioning the dancers for their upcoming show, the singer allegedly commented that "We have too much color onstage."
Wilson further claimed that the singer asked him to find more white blond dancers for her group. He also claimed that he received clear instructions to "not to cast anymore dark skinned black dancers on the tour."
Wilson who got fired recently by Cher alleges another big conspiracy in her group. He claims that a particular dancer is being covered up by the iconic singer for his alleged sexual advances on a female fan.
CNN reported that a recently hired dancer in the group invited a female fan to his St. Louis hotel room after the show. The fan later revealed that the dancer forced her to have sex with him and became angry when refused.
The matter was repeatedly reported to Cher and her management team by Wilson and two other dancers. CNN claims that the trio was 'instructed not to tell anyone what had transpired' by the management.
Instead of taking any action against the tinted dancer, Cher fired the three whistleblowers a month later that included Wilson as well. There firing was backed by the reason of financial loss. However, all 49 shows of the concert were sold out, according to Billboard magazine that amounted about $55 million.
Wilson has filed a combined lawsuit claiming racial discrimination and retaliation. While it is mainly a whistleblower protection lawsuit, the complaint also hints about racial discrimination by Cher. Wilson and one more fired dancer are of African-American origin.
The lawsuit is primarily asking to rehire the three fired employees, along with the $10 million in financial damages.
