Before the season started, the New York Knicks and Chicago Bulls were full of hope and promise that they are going to be top contenders in the Eastern Conference for 2013. A little over a month and a half have gone in the regular season, and both has varied team issues that is causing them to underperform so far.

The Chicago Bulls (8-11) visited rivals New York Knicks (10-15) on Wednesday night as both teams aim to get back to the win column after suffering back-to-back losses.

For the Bulls, the issue stems from losing their best player in Derrick Rose, who is again out of commission for the entire season because of a major injury.

For the Knicks, it’s a matter of not finding the right mix on both ends of the floor, although they are also missing a key piece in starting center Tyson Chandler, who has been out since mid-November.

Chicago lost the Detroit Pistons, 92-75, and the Milwaukee Bucks, 78-74, in their last two outings. While New York got beat by the Boston Celtics, 114-73, and the Cleveland Cavaliers, 109-94, via huge margins.
