Show creator Steven Moffat and crew of the BBC's show "Sherlock" have a reason to gloat as they gain millions of unlikely fans from China. Chinese audiences have instigated a new love affair with the show "Sherlock" that is led by British actor Benedict Cumberbatch.

It is a well known fact that fans in U.S., UK, Australia and other such countries could not wait for Benedict Cumberbatch to reprise his role as Holmes in Sherlock Season 3. But the fact that also Chinese audience could not contain their excitement for the show was proven on Jan 2, 2014. It is on this day show's latest season started to stream on Web site called Youku.com with Chinese subtitles. And it is reported that Sherlock Season 3 Episode 1 was viewed by approximately five million people in the first 24 hours of the posting of the video.

Reportedly, Sherlock Season 3 Episode 1 is the most popular video on the video hosting Web site of China, Youku.com. Several online Sherlock fan clubs have been activated gaining thousands of members. Also, according to the reports, a Chinese businessman from Shanghai has opened a café based on theme of Sherlock Holmes.

In China, the TV show "Sherlock" is known as "Curly Fu" which is abbreviated form of his name in Chinese, Fuermosi as played by Benedict Cumberbatch in the series. And Doctor John Watson as played by Martin Freeman is called "Huasheng" in Chinese. The two leading characters have become popular searches in Chinese social media.

According to more reports, a Chinese Communist Party newspaper called People's Daily has praised Sherlock Season 3 Episode 1, generously. They described it as "tense plot, bizarre story, exquisite production, excellent performances."

After two weeks, Youku.com Web site reported, that the viewership of Sherlock Season 3 has increased to 14.5 million which is much higher than the numbers in Britain.

TV show "Sherlock" led by Benedict Cumberbatch has acquired desperate fans in China. Earlier reports, reported that the nation which seemed to be obsessed with tales of Sherlock Holmes as told by Steven Moffat in "Sherlock," reportedly appealed to British Prime Minister David Cameron to press BBC for faster production of the show, when he visited the nation in December.
