China's statistical authorities on Tuesday announced that the average income of both private and government Chinese workers jumped by double digits in 2011 across various employment categories.

According to the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS), the average yearly earnings of urban Chinese workers at government firms or entities rose 14.3 per cent at $6,717 compared from a year ago, while the average yearly incomes of those working for the private sector in metropolitan regions grew 12.3 per cent.

The data was based on a survey of 1.48 million government-owned organizations and 620,000 private business entities, the NBS said. across the categories, those in the finance, telecommunication, computer service and software development sectors received the highest salary offers, the NBS added.

Personnel working in China's more developed eastern regions and major cities were the highest paid, while workers in the central provinces of Anhui, Henan and Hubei ranked as the lowest earners, the NBS said.
