Convertible devices running on either Windows 8 or Android have flocked the market today. Consumers now enjoy the convenience of detaching or transforming their computing devices based on their preferences. Often, the choice boils down to the type of operating system. Samsung is transforming the meaning "convertible" offering both Windows 8 and Android on their ATIV line.

Samsung just revealed their ATIV Q in London. Running on Windows 8, the hybrid also runs on Android Jelly Bean 4.2.2. The Samsung explained that their decision to offer Android on ATIV is based on customer feedback that they want to access Android apps using their Windows 8 based notebooks. Users now have the option to switch between these systems much like Asus Transformer Infinity Pad.

Samsung ATIV series also lets users pin their Android applications to their Windows 8 start screen. Transferring and sharing files between operations system is also possible and easy. The new Samsung Q ATIV will go head to head against Asus Transformer Book Trio which is also a Windows-Android hybrid.

The Windows-Android hybrid is not the only exceptional convertible trait of Samsung's newest laptop. The device comes with a hinge design allowing people to switch in four different modes. The ATIV can turn into a regular laptop, a video pad, tablet and a digital display. Samsung delivers their all-in-one PC through the ATIV series.

The design is familiar since Acer has also released their all-in-one PC the Aspire R7 laptop. The only difference about the ATIV Q is its smaller form factor. The laptop is 0.5 inch think and weighs around 2.8 pounds. These convertibles are thinner and lighter but there is always the trade-off depending on the user.

Samsung claimed that the ATIV Q's 3,200 by 1,800 pixel touchscreen provides 2.8 more pixel density compared to full HD displays. The device can be used under direct sunlight and provides users with a 178-degree viewing angle. The ATIV Q runs on Intel's latest Core i5 processor and offers up to 9 hours of battery life.
