Chris Algieri has always been reckoned as the underdog in his November bout with eight-division world champion Manny Pacquiao. However, Algieri has no problems being called the small fry compared to Pacquiao. The Huntington native has no worries about it because he is optimistic that he will be able to pull through and win even the odds are against him.

"I'm going to set a wicked pace," Algieri told the New York Post. Algieri said that he will be doing more than just throwing punches. He believes that his boxing strategy and fight tactics can help him when he steps on the ring. "I'm going to box smartly. I'm going to put pressure and be in his face all night along and I'm going to dominate down the stretch."

According to the American daily newspaper, Algieri's fight with Pacquiao is definitely the big break in his career so far. Plenty of people did not care for him much, but then a press tour with stops in six cities, namely, Macau, Shanghai, San Francisco, Las Vegas, Los Angeles, and New York, has given him opportunities to become famous.

Algieri visited that AT&T Park during the San Francisco Giants and Milwaukee Brewers match, where he had thrown the first pitch. In addition to the media day with the Giants and Brewers, Algieri had graced several morning shows. The New York-based undefeated also visited the closing ceremonies at the New York Stock Exchange. Algieri's followers on social media has also reportedly tripled.

Algieri told the NY Post that he loves the attention, but he tries to be cautious when it comes to dealing with new acquaintances. He said he only befriends a small amount of people and keeps just a few real friends. "Attention is great, but I can see through that kind of stuff, I'm trying to keep the circle small."

Meanwhile, Pacquaio is reportedly training hard to defend his title against Algieri. Pacquiao told Boxing Scene that he doesn't want to be self-complacent, which is why he began his training camp early. Pacquiao's assistant trainer Buboy Fernandez said that they are trying to map out strategies against Algieri.

The fight is just more than two and a half months away. It will be staged at the Venetian Casino and Resort in Macau on Nov. 22.
