Chris Hemsworth: Aussie Actor To Work On A Comedy Film, In Talks To Join 'National Lampoon's Vacation' Reboot Cast
Chris Hemsworth will be trying something new after portraying a dramatic role in the film "Rush" and the muscular hammer-wielding god Thor in the action superhero films "Thor" and "Avengers." This time, the 31-year-old Aussie actor wants to take on a comedic role in the "National Lampoon's Vacation" reboot film.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Hemsworth is currently in talks with New Line film studio to join the movie remake. The report further added that the Aussie actor "has been itching to do a comedy film" for quite some time now.
In the 1983 film series, Chevy Chase and Beverly D'Angelo starred as couple Clark and Ellen Griswold who tried to go on a holiday with their children Rusty (Anthony Michael Hall) and Audrey (Dana Barron). The movie reboot will have a grown-up Rusty taking his own family road trip comparable to his holiday trip as a child.
The Telegraph report claims "The Hangover" actor Ed Helms will portray the role of Rusty Griswold with Christina Applegate as Rusty's wife. As for Chris Hemsworth, the Aussie actor will portray Stone Crandall, Rusty's brother-in-law.
The report further added that Chevy Chase will make a cameo appearance in the reboot film as Clark Griswold. However, no actress has been cast yet to portray Audrey, Rudy's sister.
The team behind the 2011 comedy film "Horrible Bosses" will be working on the "National Lampoon's Vacation" reboot. John Francis Daley and Jonathan Goldstein will be writing and directing the upcoming film that will also star "Horrible Bosses" cast member Charlie Day as a river-rafting teacher in a cameo role.
Chris Bender of Benderspink and David Dobkin are the upcoming film's producers while Jeff Kleeman is the executive producer. In the meantime, fans can watch actor Chris Hemsworth in three movie projects scheduled to be released in 2015.
Recently, the Aussie actor completed the films "Blackhat" where he portrays Nicholas Hathaway and the drama film "In the Heart of the Sea" where he portrays the role of Owen Chase. Marvel fans can also see Chris Hemsworth reprise his role as the "God of Thunder" Thor in the Avengers sequel titled "The Avengers: Age of Ultron" which will hit movie theaters on May 1, 2015.
