Are Liam Hemsworth's elder brothers Luke and Chris really intervening in his relationship with Miley Cyrus?

According to a report by Us Weekly, Luke Hemsworth, 31, and Thor lead Chris Hemsworth, 29, sat down last month with their youngest brother Liam in an effort to persuade him to finally break up with Miley. The two elder Hemsworths reportedly told the Hunger Games star how they felt about his shaky relationship and "they want him to end the romance for good," disclosed a Us Weekly source.

This comes after Luke just showered Miley with praises in a recent interview with the same publication saying that his brother's fiancée had "won our hearts," and that she was already part of their family.

It now seems that the elder Hemsworth brothers have had a change of heart.

Sources say that the advice may not have been futile after all because soon after the reported meeting, news came out that Miley and Liam are stepping on the brakes, and setting aside their wedding plans for the meantime.

While Miley continues to insist that all is well between them, a Us Weekly insider on the other hand says "Liam is pulling away."

Although it's no longer new to read of trouble in the couple's relationship, recent events have made the buzz louder as Miley and Liam spend considerable time away from each other lately.

They have chosen to attend several big events without each other. Just last Monday, Miley paraded on the Met Ball red carpet alone.

One of the last occasions they were photographed together was during their vacation in Costa Rica last January.

And even when they're both in the same location as Los Angeles for example, the couple would opt to go out sans the other.

Last May 1, Miley was in Hollywood attending a bash at the Beacher's Madhouse while Liam spent time at Chateau Marmont. These two venues were only streets apart from each other.

Recently, Miley tried to offer answers to the split rumours with Liam. She said these were all not true and cited work as the biggest reason why she and Liam could not spend as much time together as they would want to.

"I'm not home with my boyfriend all the time. We work," she was quoted to have said. 'Every week it's "Are they broken up? Because we don't see a photo of them." I don't have time to go to Starbucks with my boyfriend every morning. I wish I did, but I don't.

"I'd rather chill at my house and be there for the time I actually get to spend with him. And then I'm at the studio all day. He gets up to work out at six and I come home at five from the studio."

The singing star added that she's giving priority to her new album more than anything else at this point, including their wedding plans.

Some outlets have tried to get Liam's side in all these but his spokesperson has yet to issue a response.
