Chris Hemsworth and his wife and child needed to be rescued at sea after the catamaran boat that they were riding got into trouble off the coast of the Spanish island La Gomera on Sunday. The family, along with the other passengers, were unharmed.

According to the Daily Mail, the 30-year-old Australian hunk, his pregnant wife, Spanish actress Elsa Pataky, and their 18-month-old daughter India Rose were among the eight passengers on a private catamaran when the boat ran aground off the coast of the island after 8pm.

The boat was supposed to take them to Playa de Santiago, off the North West coast of Africa.

A lifeboat, a Civil Guard patrol boat, and a helicopter were reportedly sent to rescue them. Ambulances were also sent to the scene, though fortunately none of the passengers required medical attention.

“Nobody was hurt but any kind of rescue at sea is a scary event, especially for a pregnant woman with a young child,” a source told the UK paper.

Chris is in the Canary Islands to film “Heart of the Sea,” a Ron Howard movie which is ironically about the sinking of the whale ship Essex in 1820. He is playing Owen Chase, the First Mate of the ship and is one of the few who survived.

Cillian Murphy, Benjamin Walker, and Tom Holland also star in the movie, which is set for release in March 2015.

In other Hemsworth family news, Chris’ younger brother Liam Hemsworth found it hilarious that his “The Hunger Games: Catching Fire” co-star Woody Harrelson had no idea that the “Thor” star is his brother.

Chris and Liam share the last name, are both Australians, and even have the same good looks; it’s not exactly a secret that they came from the same parents as well. But the Academy Award-nominated actor wasn’t aware of that until a joint interview cleared things up for him.

Woody and Liam were being interviewed by U.S. reporter Chris Van Vliet earlier in November when the interviewer asked Liam about his brother.

“He has a movie coming up this weekend. He plays a dangerous man,” the reporter said, referring to Chris’ “Thor: The Dark World” film.

During the brief talk about the other Hemsworth, Woody was sporting a baffled look on his face before understanding dawned on him.

“I never got that he was your brother until just now,” the older actor told his co-star. “And you do have the same last name now that I think about it.”

Liam broke out in laughter, prompting Woody to add, “I honestly never put that together.”

“You know they kinda look similar,” the reporter added, to which Woody replied, laughing, “Now that you’ve mentioned it, I totally get it.”
