Australian hottie Chris Hemsworth is set to capture hearts and challenge box office records again with the much anticipated release of Marvel's thunderous sequel to the superhero movie franchise, Thor.

Although the wait for the second instalment of the imposing Thor is still a long way as the action adventure packed film won't hit the big screens until November, already excitement is building up among Thor followers with the release of the movie's promotional stills and trailers.

In the sequel Thor: The Dark World, Hemsworth s reunited with his love interest in the movie Natalie Portman. In the stills released ahead of the movie's showing, Hemsworth and Portman are seen having a fine time, laughing and looking at each other as taunts and teases are shared by people in the set. The bigger question is, will the Thor sequel rake in the same box office earnings or even more as compared to the first instalment?

Hemsworth, who was born in Melbourne and first crashed into Hollywood with his appearance in Star Trek in 2009, was propelled to prominence worldwide by his portrayal of Thor in 2011 and his 2012 reprisal of the role in the hit science fiction movie The Avengers.

The second installment

To all Thor fans, the first installment was the type that screams a sequel pronto what with the movie leaving a lot of curious questions hanging.

The first Thor movie ended with a scene showing Thor, played by Hemsworth, and his fellow warriors getting trapped in their Asgard world. Thor was then shot looking at his lady love Jane Foster, the character played by Portman, who in turn was doing everything she could, passionately and without cease, to bring him out of Asgard and back to earth.

Curiously, in the new stills, Jane is now shown stripped off her scientist persona, dropping her ubiquitous telescopes and clad in very Asgard-looking frocks instead of her favourite shirt and jeans. Jane is actually shown wearing clothes worn by Asgard women in the new stills for Thor: The Dark World.

So is Jane staying in the Asgard world to be with Thor for good? Or was she there for a short visit? Will the two protagonists share one world finally?

These questions will be answered as the movie hits the big screen soon. Directed by Alan Taylor, Thor: The Dark World also stars Anthony Hopkins, Tom Hiddleston, Rene Russo and more.
