Chris Hemsworth to star in 'Star Trek 4'
"Star Trek Beyond" is keeping fans on edge as it’s slated to hit Australian theatres on Thursday. While the movie hasn’t even premiered, Australian actor Chris Hemsworth is supposedly reprising his character for Star Trek’s fourth installation.
According to The Hollywood Reporter, Chris Pine, who plays Captain Kirk, will star alongside Chris Hemsworth, who plays Kirk’s father, George Kirk. In the next movie, Captain Kirk will meet his father, the man whose legacy has burdened Kirk since birth.
In 2009, the “Thor” actor made a brief cameo in JJ Abrams’ Star Trek reboot. If Star Trek 4 is going by the reported plotline, Hemsworth is expected to have a longer screen time.
“Star Trek 4” has also confirmed returning casts, including Zachary Quinto, John Cho and Zoe Saldana. A lot of the production crew are also confirmed to work on the instalment.
J.D. Payne and Patrick McKay will be responsible for the screenplay. J.J. Abrams and Lindsey Weber will handle production through Bad Robot Productions. David Ellison and Dana Goldberg of Skydance will executive produce. Meanwhile, there is no director announced for the film yet.
Waiting for “Star Trek 4” is going to take a few years until completion, but dedicated Star Trek fans shouldn’t worry about missing the sci-fi epic as there will be an upcoming TV adaptation for it.
CBS has confirmed that they will debut a new Star Trek series. The show will reportedly start in January 2017 on the network. Netflix also revealed that it has secured the rights to stream all the episodes of the show. The streaming platform has reportedly signed on international rights to stream the TV franchise in 188 countries. Netflix, however, will premiere new episodes after its debut on CBS All Access but assured that it will take less than 24 hours.
Live long and prosper Star Strek fans.
