Chris Lane's autopsy report showed that a bullet penetrated through his lungs and damaged his aorta and pulmonary artery, which caused his death.

A case of murder was charged against three teenagers, two of them as principals and the other as an accessory.

Police Chief Dan Ford stated that the crime was committed out of boredom and, Lane was just at the wrong place and at the wrong time.

Lane was a native of Melbourne, Australia, who went to the United States to play baseball.

Meanwhile, hundreds of people, including Lane's girlfriend Sarah Harper, attended the player's funeral in Melbourne.

Harper was in so much pain, but the love shown by random persons comforts her, she said over Facebook.

Moreover, Lane's former coach, John Edwards, initiated a campaign to name a baseball field in Melbourne in the player's memory.

People showed support in the cause as evidenced by the accumulation of 20,000 signatures in the span of 4 days.

"When his started we thought the chances of it happening would be a million to one. Now, we've gotten so much support, it's more like 50 to one," Edwards told the Herald Sun.
