The days of Christian Bale as Batman are finally done. It was several days ago when he took off his Batman hood as he wraps up for 'The Dark Knight Rises.'

With the entire production wrapping up, everything is truly done.

"It's me and [director Christopher Nolan] - that will be the end of that Batman era," the actor said in an exclusive interview.

This era which started way back in 2005 is the force that reinvented and revived the entire 'Batman' franchise that is already declining at that time. They have decided to base it on a series of graphic novels done about the superhero with the first one being entitled 'Batman Begins' and the sequel 'The Dark Knight.'

'The Dark Knight Rises' includes old characters like Alfred Pennyworth, James Gordon and also Lucius Fox. It also features brand new faces especially the highly anticipated portrayal of Anne Hathaway as 'Catwoman.'

Along the other members of the cast are Tom Hardy and Joseph-Gordon Levitt.

According to the actor, Bale thinks that it's Anne's role who is the toughest amongst all of them; having to play a role that has been well defined too through the years. At the same time, the "Machinist" star, thinks of Gordon-Levitt as a "very smart" actor.

The Dark Knight Rises premieres on July 20, 2012. View the slideshow to see photos of other actors who have played the much-coveted role of Batman in the past.
