Christian Bale has been selected to play Steve Jobs in the late Apple CEO's biopic. According to reports, Bale did not even have to audition for the role.

Screenwriter Aaron Sorkin has confirmed in an interview with Bloomberg that "The Dark Knight" actor will play the lead in the Apple co-founder's biopic. Sorkin said the movie required the "best actor" in a certain age range, and Bale was the perfect choice. Bale reportedly did not have to audition for the role; there was only a meeting to confirm Bale's participation in the film.

The Academy Award-winning screenwriter, who won it for "The Social Network," has been working on the screen adaptation of "Steve Jobs." The 2011 biography that Sorkin has been working on is written by Walter Isaacson. Bloomberg reports that according to Sorkin, the movie will start shooting within a couple of months.

According to rumours back in March, David Fincher selected Bale to play the lead role of the film. While Fincher is not a part of the project anymore, further rumours indicated that Academy Award-winning director Danny Boyle, who directed acclaimed movies like "Trainspotting" and "Slumdog Millionaire," would lead the project. Apple Insider says that earlier reports in October hinted that Bale was in final talks to play Jobs' role. However, Sorkin indicated that the movie would vastly depend on Bale.

In his interview with Bloomberg, Sorkin said that the role would be a challenging one for Bale. He stated that the method actor "would have more words to say in the movie than in three movies combined." Sorkin further said that Bale would be in every scene and every frame. "It's an extremely difficult part and he is going to crush it," he said.

According to Bloomberg, Leonardo DiCaprio was also in talks for playing Jobs' character. DiCaprio is still looking for his first Oscar, though his fans think he deserved to win it on more than one occasion. Bale, on the other hand, won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor for the 2010 movie "The Fighter." He received his second Academy Award nomination for the 2013 movie "American Hustle." Bale seems to have bagged yet another opportunity with this film to get another Academy Award nomination.
