Christina Aguilera insisted that she did not date new boyfriend Mathew Rutler, until after she filed for divorce from Jordan Bratman. Aguilera filed for divorce from Bratman last October 14th this year, just six weeks ago.

Rutler is a set assistant in Burlesque, the Steven Antin film which Aguilera stars with singer Cher. This might make some people raise their eyebrows, but the singer seems to be just fine with Rutler's job.

In an interview, Christina told People magazine: "Matthew is a special person. We had a really strong friendship on the movie. He's the kind of person you could spend hours on the phone talking to and all of a sudden it's daylight."

While Christina admits that there 's "love" in their relationship, she also says that she is not rushing into things having left a five-year marriage with Bratman. She tells the magazine she's taking it slow with Rulter and is just trying to be happy.

In the same interview, Christina Aguilera narrates how filming for Burlesque allowed her to mature as a woman.

"I went right into filming Burlesque. As a musician you're with your posse all the time, and during the movie I removed myself from mine. So I had an independence I'd never felt before. I was growing leaps and bounds daily. I went from being a girl to a woman."

"When I finished filming, I didn't feel right in my own shoes . I had a lot of things stirring inside of me that I felt were being suppressed. We tried to work on the marriage and figure out a common ground, but the problems were obvious."

In Burlesque, Christina Aguilera will portray a small town girl who performs in a burlesque club in Los Angeles. In the movie, Aguilera not only gets to showcase her acting abilities, but her musical talent as well. She wrote and sang four new songs for the movie's soundtrack.
