Christmas Miracle Story: Woman Grants Wishes For Family After Death
Scott Allen, brand manager of 102.5 FM radio station, got a letter for the station about two weeks ago. The station has been running the "Star" 102.5 Christmas Wish program for over 20 years in Des Moines, Iowa. It has never received a letter like this before. The letter came from Brenda Schmitz who died due to ovarian cancer two years back in 2011. The letter was written more than two years ago, a month before she had passed away.
USA Today reported a unique story of a Christmas miracle of the Schmitz family. David Schmitz, Brenda's husband, said his wife was a selfless person. She was aware what her family was going through due to her fatal condition.
The letter, dated Aug. 3, 2011, has been kept to a secret friend of Brenda. The friend was asked by her to wait until David found another woman to spend his life with. The letter has been scheduled for delivery after his husband finds love again in his life. When it happened, the letter was sent to the radio station which granted Christmas wishes.
David was informed that the station was going to fulfil his wishes but he was not aware what they were talking about. He came to know about Brenda's letter when he was called to the studio and put on air. Brenda's letter had three wishes.
Her first wish was something which would pamper the new woman in David's life. David proposed to Jayne Abraham this summer but the wish was applicable to whomever he chooses as his life partner. Brenda wrote that she knew that the woman would have to do a daunting task by being the stepmother of her children. It was a 'thank you' to her from Brenda.
Her second wish was a 'magical trip' for her family. She wanted her family to go on a trip which they will remember for the rest of their life. She wrote that the family should enjoy one another's company together. Brenda's final wish was a 'night out' for cancer doctors and nurses, which would be 'full of drinks, food and fun'. She wanted to do it for them because of the life they have every day.
The station granted all her three wishes. The family is going to a paid vacation to Disney World. Jayne will get a massage there. The staff of the Mercy Medical Center oncology unit will have three coordinated food drops.
The secret friend who initiated the entire thing remains anonymous.
