Chuck Palahnuik Talks About Fight Club 2 Storyline, Edward Norton and Brad Pitt Reprise Roles in Movie
"The first rule of Fight Club is: you do not talk about Fight Club."
But it seems this rule has been broken by Chuck Palahnuik, as he talks about an upcoming sequel to the original Fight Club movie.
"Fight Club 2" is about to become a reality. Perhaps people were all anticipating that this would happen, especially when the writer of the novel revealed a few months back that he was working on a sequel. Chuck Palahnuik says that the sequel to "Fight Club" will show how life is after 10 years for Tyler Durden who has finally settled down. He talks about this to Hustler revealing pretty interesting facts that will surely get fans on the edge of their seats.
Chuck Palahnuik spoke about his second novel, the continuation to "Fight Club" saying:
"So much of Fight Club was a rant against fathers," he said. "At the time every man I knew was complaining about how little he'd learned from his father. Even my own father felt bitter and let down by his father. Rather than continue in that vein, I wanted to revisit the protagonist once he himself had become a father," he added.
He also reiterates that the characters are starting to enter a sort of dearie where they are searching for something to make their marriage work. The author says:
"The sequel will be told from the - at first - submerged perspective of Tyler Durden as he observes the day-to-day tedium of the narrator's life. Because 20th Century-Fox created the convention of calling the protagonist Jack, I'm calling him Cornelius. He's living a compromised life with a failing marriage, unsure about his passion for his wife. The typical midlife bullsh*t. Likewise, Marla is unsatisfied and dreams of accessing the wild man she'd once fallen in love with. She tampers with the small pharmacy of drugs that her husband needs to suppress Tyler, and - go figure - Tyler reemerges to terrorize their lives."
Well, the second "Fight Club" movie surely is something to look out for. The question now is will Edward Norton and Brad Pitt reprise their roles as the original characters? News is that they are currently busy with other commitments as actors and that "Fight Club 2" release date may be in 2015 at the earliest.
